Question

What is really meaning of "quite" and usage?

Answer

Following are the formal definitions of "quite":

quite (kwt)
adv.
To the greatest extent; completely: quite alone; not quite finished.

Actually; really: I'm quite positive about it.

To a degree; rather: quite soon; quite tasty.

The British use the word "quite" alone, to mean "yes" or "of course"

ex:
"Are you ready?"
"Quite."
This usage has to do with the 2nd definition of the word.
